Collective Narcissism as a Basis for Nationalism

Recent work suggests that collective narcissism—an exaggerated, unrealistic belief in an ingroup's greatness demands constant external validation—is a strong predictor of variety political attitudes. In the present study, we use nationally representative panel data from Poland to examine relationship between national narcissism and nationalism, ingroup is superior should dominate other nations. We first demonstrate narcissism, mere satisfaction with are distinct. turn, both cross-sectional analyses, find (1) positively related whereas not; (2) stronger nationalism than absolute terms. Our analyses thus provide evidence may be rooted narcissistic exaggeration rather nonnarcissistic satisfaction.
